Career

I am still surviving the riggers of a Project Manager at All Systems Designed Solutions.  It is a challenge I like.

Since my surgery, I've been trying to get the VPN to work so I can do more work from home.  I'm salaried, so as long as I get the job done, it doesn't really matter from where.  I've been thinking about getting a mobile network card for my laptop.

16 Oct.
It the end of the fiscal year, and a review of projects to date shows where I need to work for better performance.  Kourtney has started a Facebook group for the company to provide a off company site to voice.  I will probably start my contributional commenting this week.

Tattoos

This year began my tat collection for specific people and themes in my life.  Most of the work reflect people in my life, some good some bad - mostly good.  People and themes in my life.

During my trip to Oklahoma City for my niece's wedding, I had my Native State & Native Blood Tattoo done.  Tattoo shops in Oklahoma have just been legal for less than a year.

I am hoping that I find the time and inspiration to finish my tree tattoo for my back.  I will be trading a custom tattoo chair for it with my main tat man.  I hope to get both done around the end of the year.

30 Nov.
The chair and stool arrived about a month ago.  Stormy Jackson has been over to look and select the materials.  I've located a fab shop for work I might not do - and a plating shop for chroming.  Now just to kick it off and get the next steps outlined and started.

Health

August closed with my first knee surgery.  The right knee cartilage ripped and required arthroscopy surgery to fix and remove some arthritis.  The left knee and left shoulder will probably follow in the next few years.

My knee started hurting august 11th just walking around at work. on the 12th, it was really aching after working on a project at work, then Monday morning, it POPed as I hopped down off my tailgate.  The guy on the dock heard it.  I had a Meniscus Tear and arthritis.  Had surgery on the 29th.  I got free photos of the work 1  2  3.

Currently, I healing well, aching all the time and starting rehab.  I don't think I'll be on my bike for a while or in time for the birthday wake on the 22nd.

09 Nov.
Knee still hurts, got back into the gym, but need to stay consistent. I really have two surgeries to recoop from: this one and the free-flap. I'm back on my bike - we missed each other.

30 Nov.
Thyroid levels turned out to be low.  Well, add another pill to the morning cocktail.  Oh, I have a cholesterol test to do.  Seems some plaque is building up somewhere other than my teeth.

At Home

The year 2007 began with a house full of Roberts: Robert Tucker Jr & Robert Dixon Kiefert.  You could say a lot of R&D.  Someone had to be the responsible adult.

I informed them both that I am wanting to be alone here before I reach 50.  Time for you kids to get a life of your own and move on.

16 Oct.
The first rounds of separations happened in mid October with Kiefert moving to Wisconsin to work with his friend Frank training dogs.  Coincidence of events, the same Monday that Robert informed me he would be out, another friend contacted from Huston in need of rescue.  Twenty-five or six to four, what are the odds of such shuffling?  That means I have to get those two 800 pounds rocks off the trailer and ready for hauling and rescuing.

09 Nov.
Seems the friend thought he wanted to move in,  Rob and I did the 830 miles in a split 14 hour drive to Huston (in the truck and trailer). Then he wanted to go back cause the house wasn't what he thought - WFW! He has a pod and is loading it right from the truck and trailer - we didn't even unpack. well well, the story would take too much hand gestures to type out, so I'll save that for in-person. I'm just going to tear out the wall between the two small rooms to make it a larger one for Rob.

We did First Friday on 2 November. If you know what that is?  You can Google "kansas city first fridays". It's the art district night open. If you are into art and such. or just go to find the ones with wine.  I found a large art piece, oil on board, called "Sun and Moon".

Campbell House

I purchased some 3D design software, Punch Home Design AS4000 to help render my concepts.  I'm still in the learning curve for the software.  It doesn't do the MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) detail that I want.  It is pretty superficial, but I'll get some good use out of it.  After all, I can't return it.

We been bartering off of Craigslist.com and finding some useful items.  I recently got all the 8"x8" glass blocks I wanted to do my basement shower.

My next goal is to get the yard done and the basement setup for fabrication and production.  I recently ripped out the old HVAC unit in the house and about 90% of the duct work.  Lots of room now.  I'll be gutting the house to an extent to start installing chase ways and passages for infrastructure.

30 Nov.
Putting in new furnaces in the gas fire places has started off as a leaning experience outside the expected.  Mostly, that we can do a lot more work rather than get a contractor - and it would save more money that way.  It's hitting freezing and below now, and we are waiting for the roof pipes to arrive: backordered.  The 60K BTU salamander and my K1 hater are doing a good job at keeping the house warm.  The salamander in on a timer with air movers and fans.

I've spent some time cleaning up and dividing the diagrams for the project.

Liquidation of JMH Properties

They say it is better to have tried and failed than to have not tried and succeeded.  But JMH is really a success when you look at what lessons and experience it provided besides the families it sustained during the past five years.

I just don't have time to manage and work on the properties anymore, but the big blow was the misappropriation of operating funds by the last manager.  That shorted JMH by almost $15,000.  Although I am now collecting the monies back, it left me no choice but to sell.

The sale was completed on September 17th at 11:00 AM.  Paid off debts and sent the rest to Edward Jones for investment.

I'll still have the backhoe (Case 580 super K) that I will either sell or find a good barter exchange.

Motorcycles

I took some time, very tight time this last June and July and finally made a new set of saddle bags.  Mainly for my trip to OKC.  I still have some finishing work to do on them, but they are really nice touring bags.

I made the tool bag first, which also is a nice glove and junk box.  I crunched out the touring bags.  I wound up buying a new Juki machine to finish the project.  That was nearly $2,100 of machine.

All together, estimated hours to date are 172 hours, $1,055.31 in direct supplies used, and about $2,242.74 in new tools (including the Juki).

Trucks & Such

This is the first time I've ever bought a truck and paid for it in full.  Well, I bought it on my credit card and then paid my credit card off.  I wanted my 5% earnings on my card.

I got 2007 GMC Sierra.  Traded in my old F150 and used some of my GM Card points.   I had trouble with the first installer for custom radio and alarm systems.  Finally, I had to have a more professional company fix the radio and get a refund from the first flop shop.

Both my truck and bike have jaguars mounted on the front hood or fender.  They match.  Eventually, I'd like to get FLIR, an inverter, Rhino lining, and maybe, internet.

Relatives and Relations

This year, both my Aunt Maxine Woolery and Aunt Joan Holding had to move to nursing homes.  Max will be 96 this July and just got where she couldn't take take of herself. Richard and Joan have had more than their share of health problems.  Joan's last battle with lymphoma took a big toll on her.  Uncle Richard Holding spends most of his time visiting Joan.

Ricky Holding in Campbell, New York will probably take early retirement to deal with Parkinson.  Both he and Connie would like to move back to the city to be nearer family, but the current state of the housing market wouldn't give them a good return on their home right now.  Both their kids, Josh and Julie live out of state.  I haven't seen them since they were in diapers and Josh is already in his twenties, married and has kids.

Growing up, dad use to take us around for a month or more at a time to visit and tour the country.  That has all fallen off since those days and I have not had good frequency in keeping in touch, especially visiting.  what scared me the most, was the thought of loosing my relatives without having had the chance to see them again.  I have a large depository of old family photos from both my mom's and dad's families, but not much knowledge of who they are.  Most of that is still all tribal.  I've been scanning and organizing them then taking them to Maxine and Richard to see if they know who they are.  As humans, we tend to want to know who we are and where we come from.
